ElaGaia
To us, our house was not unsentient matter – it had a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals and solicitudes and deep sympathies; it was of us, and we were in its confidence, and lived in its grace and in the peace of its benediction.
- Mark Twain
ElaGaia is a 100-year old farmhouse situated in close proximity to Artemis Mountain, the highest peak in the Argolida. ElaGaia is 10 kilometers from Argos, the oldest town in Europe. It is near Nemea, the home of the ancient Nemean Games, the world heritage site of Mycenae, and Nafplio by the sea. We have restored the house, turned the old threshing floor into a theatre, and planted a grove of olive trees in memory of Minnette Deloach Tittle. Our house is now becoming a home to our aspirations for that place where we can tend the flame of what Western civilization holds dear, and defend our shared humanity in a time of religious intolerance with the practice of creative collaboration and cultural exchange.

On behalf of The Arete Fund, we are grateful for our affiliation and collaboration with The Mycenaean Foundation. Moreover, we are honored to be involved with the Argos/Mycenae Municipality in the historic revival of The Heraion, an ancient festival to Hera, famous in antiquity.
